In order to ensure that each pizza is properly made, there are many technological components involved along the assembly line. This process begins with cash registers and receipt printers and continues to the terminal where toppings are added. After the toppings have been added, and it has left the oven, it leaves the store with a printed box label receipt.
To ensure the accuracy at each of these stages, all of the data from the cash registers, receipt printers, terminals, ovens, and box label printers are sent to one centralized location known as the device gateway, which is then connected to the Linux server. Both the Linux server and device gateway are interrelated as one sends out a command while the other retrieves the necessary information; without proper connection, communication is not possible between the two.
For one international pizza company, they were operating with serial connections to the device gateway and then Ethernet connecting between the device gateway and Linux server. Once the pizza company’s device gateway began to deteriorate, they had difficulties finding a replacement that was not only affordable, but also compatible with their unique Linux system, which is why they chose Comtrol.
After the purchase of Comtrol’s DeviceMaster RTS 16-Port RJ45, the rock solid Linux support, provided by Comtrol, became very evident. Comtrol’s technical support team was dedicated to ensuring the compatibility between the company’s specialized Linux server and Comtrol’s DeviceMaster RTS. With the continued hard work and dedication from Comtrol’s technical support team, everything was able to be properly connected, and as a result, the pizza company was able to operate with their existing equipment and cabling, saving them a tremendous amount of money. Due to this, the pizza company was extremely pleased with the DeviceMaster RTS 16-Port RJ45 as well as the technical support from Comtrol. As a result, they have purchased additional DeviceMaster RTS 16-Ports and are currently in the process of implementing them in all of their stores worldwide.
The DeviceMaster RTS 16-Port RJ45 is a rugged Ethernet device that allows communication between the host PC and other serial devices located anywhere within the Ethernet network. This industrial grade product operates efficiently in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C. In addition, the Device Master RTS supports native COM, TTY, or TCP/IP socket communication modes.
