Hardware Design Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

Design, develop, document and troubleshoot product hardware.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical hardware with electronic components. Experience in designing with microprocessor, memory and programmable logic devices is desired
  • Create product concepts, architecture and designs
  • Define board layout and design guidelines to meet EMI/EMC and safety requirements
  • Create schematics, design documentation and BOM
  • Create hardware design verification test plans and test reports
  • Perform design validation tests on products
  • Troubleshoot products/PCAs, find root cause of problems and implement solutions to improve existing designs
  • Assemble and modify hardware
  • Document designs for manufacturing and support
  • Create test procedures for acceptance testing of products in production
  • Generate technical specifications based off product requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years experience in hardware design and development
  • Proven ability to design, assemble and debug electrical hardware and products
  • Proficient at creating and reading schematics using OrCAD Capture or an equivalent tool
  • Experience in creating layout guidelines and reviewing and providing guidance on PCB layout
  • Experience with microprocessor, memory, CPLD and Ethernet components design is a plus
  • Experience with designing Ethernet interfaces is desired
  • Experience in creating design validation test plans and test reports
  • Strong working knowledge of lab tools such as Oscilloscope, Multi-Meter, power supplies to debug and troubleshoot designs
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware and to find root causes of issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures and design proposals
  • Must be able to provide assistance in soldering electronic components
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy, including CAD experience
