Challenge
Heinz needed a way to print identifying "license plate" type bar codes for pallet loads and maintain data required for pallet tracking. This involved optimizing a pallet conveyor transport and labeling system.
Technology Solution
RocketPort® Serial Hub Si products were deployed to connect both manual and automatic label printers, as well as bar code scanners, to a conveyor control system network. This enabled Heinz to handle pallet identification information, including a 7-digit license number, line number, product description, production time stamp, and carton quantity. This enabled Heinz to obtain real-time inventory control and strict order sequence, ultimately resulting in streamlined operations and higher profits.
